Program Basics
What is Live Strong House?
Live Strong House is a therapeutic boarding school for teenage boys in Syracuse, Utah. Students live in a home setting where therapy and education are supported by daily mentoring. Our program helps young men practice greater responsibility while working toward their individual goals.
Who is the program for?
Our program supports boys who need more help with emotional or behavioral challenges than they are receiving at home or through outpatient care. Some arrive struggling with anxiety or depression. Others need support with ADHD, technology use, or staying engaged in school. Admissions includes a review of whether our setting can meet your son’s needs.
What age range do you serve?
Our teenage program serves boys ages 15–18. If your son is outside that range, contact admissions to discuss available options.
How long do students typically stay?
Students typically stay nine to twelve months. The timeline depends on your son’s needs and progress toward his goals. We work with your family to evaluate his readiness for the next step. Short-term placements (30–90 days) rarely offer sufficient time to internalize new behaviors or address root emotional challenges, which often leads to a cycle of repeated short-term interventions for adolescents and young adults.
Is Live Strong House a locked facility?
No. Students live in townhomes in a residential neighborhood. Life Coaches provide structure and supervision, with opportunities for students to take part in community activities as part of the program.
Clinical Care
How does therapy work?
Licensed therapists develop an individualized treatment plan for your son. Individual sessions give him space to work through personal challenges, while group and family sessions support his relationships. Therapists coordinate with teachers and life coaches so he can practice what he learns throughout the day.
Does every student receive the same treatment?
No. Treatment reflects your son’s needs and goals. His therapist reviews his progress and adjusts the approach as needed, with input from your family and the people supporting him each day.
Academics
Will my son continue school?
Yes. School remains part of his routine. We provide individualized academic support, including credit recovery when appropriate. Teachers work with the clinical team to address challenges that may be affecting his schoolwork.
Can you support students with learning differences or an IEP?
Our academic team works with students who need learning accommodations or help with executive functioning. Share your son’s IEP and school records during admissions so we can discuss the support he needs.
Family Involvement
How involved is the family?
Parents participate in treatment planning and receive updates about their son’s progress. Family sessions and parent coaching give you opportunities to work on changes together and prepare for life after the program.
Can families visit?
Yes. Visits are planned with the team based on your son’s progress and readiness. We help you prepare beforehand and discuss how things went afterward. Home visits may become appropriate as he progresses.
Daily Life
What does a typical day look like?
Students follow a routine that includes schoolwork and scheduled therapy. They also participate in physical activity and help with household responsibilities. Life coaches support them through everyday challenges, with time for recreation and rest.
What is a life coach?
Life coaches live alongside students and provide daily mentoring. They help your son practice skills such as preparing meals or managing his schedule. When difficulties arise, coaches help him apply the strategies he is learning in therapy.
What happens after a student leaves?
We begin preparing for your son’s transition before he leaves. Your family works with the team on expectations at home and the support he may need afterward. Planning can include coordination with his next school and local outpatient providers.
